When you hear the word ‘’economy’’ what is the first color that
comes to your mind? Maybe if you didn’t know about the topic of the competition
you would say “gray”, but as we all probably know if there was one color that
should be chosen for a representative of the future of economy it would be
blue.
But you may ask why? Well the answer is very simple – blue,
because making the most of the potential of our oceans, seas, rivers and coasts
could help broaden the scope of the circular economy and create new opportunities,
promoting sustainable, inclusive growth.
After explaining what the Blue economy is, here is a bit
information about our project. It consists of 2 parts – our website and our
chatbot – Ivy.
For the website we used HTML5, CSS3 and the code editor Visual
Studio Code because it connects to GitHub and has different extensions which
can help you when you are writing code.
The second part is the chatbot Ivy. For those of you who don’t
know, a chatbot is a program used to simulate natural human conversation. The
purpose of our one is bringing awareness to what the Blue economy is. It can
answer a ton of different questions regarding this topic. Its code we wrote in
Spyder using Python 3.6 and an additional JSON file as a database.
Our TECH DAYS 2020 BLUE ECONOMY competition project is a
website on Energy from water and air. The idea of our website was to borrow certain
information that matches the theme of the project, from sites that are based on
diverse ideas and thus have a variety of articles that still relate to the
topic. The main function of the site is to provide information to the user on
the above topic through a set of several short, up-to-date articles, taken from
secure sources, to which there is a hyperlink at the bottom of each page
containing an article. The site contains news about both energy from water and
air. Some of the articles provide answers to the most frequently asked
questions about water and air energy, while others give information on the
various ways in which it can be obtained from these sources. There are also
texts that tell of new and useful discoveries concerning the acquisition of
energy from new (and inexhaustible) sources (such as changes in air temperature
or cold night air), which is extremely important for the modern economy and
therefore directly affects us all.
As you know for sure, the world is facing several global problems. One of them is the raw material-energy problem, which is related to the reliable provision of humanity with raw materials and fuels. The consequences of this are the depletion of the fields, the increase of the prices of raw materials, the aggravation of the ecological situation due to the negative impact of the extractive industry on the environment, etc. Part of the solution to this problem is the use of new materials and alternative sources of energy (in this case, water and air). Another global problem connected with the environment is the environmental problem. It is caused by the negative impact of human economic activity on the geospheres. One of the main reasons for this is the unwise use of natural resources. It leads to an increase in the area of deserts, pollution of water, air and soil, the emergence and widening of the ozone hole, etc. One solution is the rational and integrated use of natural resources and the use of alternative energy sources. These are the main topics and ideas that we want to bring to the attention of the reader of the articles on the site and to make them think and realise the real threats, which these problems will bring forth, if adequate actions are not done as soon as possible. Another thing that can be found on our website is a test, thanks to which the user can test their knowledge on energy from water and air. This way they will understand what they know about the topic and will learn new useful and interesting facts. In addition, we have developed three calculators related to the topic of the project that will further clarify the processes involved in extracting energy from water resources.
We have a “Home page”, one page that explains about “What is the system”, three pages for our filters and a page for “How it works” our system divided into three subpages.
A) “Home page” is made up of generalized information about purpose of our site, what will you learn from our site and the most important thing – What is a “Blue Economy”. This page contains our motto in the form of animation, two pictures made by us with “Edit – online editor”, videoclip from YouTube channel “RAP RAC”, navigation map and navigation bar. For colors and design on this page is present to color of 2020 – Classic blue.
B) “What is the system” is a page that explains about our system and how to purify the water. For design, we stick to blue again. There is a table animation.
C) In our three pages have an information about filters, with each filter descripted in detail about its function. Here again is the table animation and the design we used blue again.
D) ”How it works”. In this page we explain exactly how our entire system work and the subpages on this page describe step by step, detailing all the information you need to get the system working
Blue Economy isn‘t only about the water
pollution, but includes the air too. This subject has much bigger meaning. It’s
affects a lot of sectors, but we decided to go for carbon sequestration and
most importantly how to remove it. We thought that it will be great
opportunity to show our idea, because we want to help the Earth and most
importantly we want to help us – all living organisms.
We decided to create a product that helps the
environment and that is good for the development of the Earth. We created a
website which can provides information by statistics created by NodeMCU which
could help you to track your bought tree.
We hope that our project is going to make a
great impact of the future plans about quicker afforestration and
reforestation. We think that people now have a more intense life who love in
hurry and sometimes there‘s no time for our relatives and friends, and what is
happening with the plants that cannot say they need water. We should help each
other, but not only a human to a human – an organism to an organism.
